While searching through Harmony Central gear reviews on guitar amps i found that very funny comment of a user on the neverending debate of digitally modeled versus analog tube amp sound.
funny anegdote, a couple days after i got the v-amp and i tweaked it quite a bit i recorded two clips direct with it (both acquireable in my sig) and posted the two clips on a local forum and said the first clip is my full-tube amp miked with a sm57 and the second one marshall jmp-1 in the fx-return of my tube amp – everyone (i mean everyone) agreeded that it sounds pretty good and noone even suspected that it wasn’t my tube amp.. i even got a mail from a guy in which he asks me for my jmp-1 settings cause he’s got one and can’t tweak it to sound as good as i did
And those are the people who claim themselves to have “bat ears” which can detect digital sound from a mile, and they all own full tube amps and so.. funny world
In my opinion both ideologies have their pros and cons. Tube amps can’t really be played at bedrom volume level but do have mostly a very warm and individual sound. Digital amps do a lot of fancy stuff for guys like me who really can’t afford several amps at high prices.
